Stephen Ministry Sunday

 

On April 25th 2010, 10 gifted and caring individuals were commissioned as Stephen Ministers. Jenny Farrell, Gary Ishmael, Molly McIntyre, Sandy Reile, Jeff Schneider, Cindy Schneider, Cindy Slavick, George Stephens, Juli Stephens, and Shirley Tomalia. They all completed an intensive 50-hour course. Training started in October 2009 and ran through May 2010.
 

Stephen Ministry Sunday also was a day of celebration for the re-commissioning of 8 Stephen Ministers for another year of caring and devoted support – Kim Alhborn, Kathie Blaylock, Stacy Dodson Becky Doyle, Marilyn Gaskins, Niki Griffin, Marcia Keller, Joyce Marker, Ralph Reseigh, Garry Reynolds June Rupert, Janis Solack and Charlie Weaver. Lastly our devoted Pastors – Bruce and Marge were re-commissioned as Stephen Leaders for another year of faithful service.

 

 

Other Activities

 

Meal Ministry

A new group is forming to provide meals to families that are dealing with illnesses. If you know of someone that could benefit from this ministry please contact Lisa Goyette (248.693.6201 x202).

 

Free Haircuts for those in Need

Two (2) salons in Lake Orion are offering their services to show their support for the community. If you are in need of a haircut and, due to financial strain, can not afford to pay please call Lisa Goyette (248.693.6201 x202) for more information.

 

Homebound Communion

If you know of a church member that is homebound and would be comforted by receiving the gift of communion please contact Lisa Goyette and arrangements can be made. Several church members have been trained on to offer this gift up to someone in need.

 

Peer Supervision

 

Our Active Stephen Ministers continue to meet on a monthly basis for support and for continuing education opportunities.

 

 

 

 

Prayer Calling- If you know of someone that needs specific prayers lifted up please contact Lisa Goyette (248.693.6201 x202).

 

Prayer calling of the entire church directory is conducted yearly.  Families from the church directory are contacted by phone on a weekly basis during this timeframe. The families are prayed for in the upcoming week. Specific prayer requests can be identified and also lifted up.

 

Unemployment Ministry- This ministry started in February 2009 at St. Mary’s in the Hills and is supported by LOUMC. This ministry and is open to anyone from our church and our community. The group meets to offer support, networking ideas and discuss issues related to being unemployed. The group meets every other Thursday at 1:00 p.m. For more information call St. Mary’s at (248) 391-0663.
